By the time this news post has been completed, we should have about 50 % of this years harvest safely in the store. It has been a tricky harvest so far for the contractors as the unsettled spell of weather that we currently find ourselves in makes it difficult to press on. The positive thing to note about this years harvest is that yields are considerably better than last year, at least for the two crops combined so far, oilseed rape and winter barley. Both crops will need a bit of expenditure to get them down to the required 15% moisture level but I would rather have the crop safely in the shed than holding out for a prolonged dry spell !
